Eating is an extremely social activity. Whether it's catching up on the day over a regular evening meal or celebrating a special occasion such as a birthday, graduation, anniversary, wedding or Christmas, food and eating are used by many as a way to interact with our loved ones.
For those with dysphagia it can be quite isolating not being able to eat and drink what everyone else can. Mealtimes may become less pleasurable and those with dysphagia may experience anxiety or embarrassment in relation to eating.
